Codex
Connect the Codex CLI or IDE extension to the hosted server, or run the server locally. You need an API key from step 1 of Setup.
Connect to the hosted server
Add the hosted server to ~/.codex/config.toml, shared by the CLI and the IDE extension, and set JOKERPRICE_API_KEY in the environment Codex starts from. Codex sends it as the bearer token.
[mcp_servers.jokerprice]
url = "https://jokerprice.com/mcp"
bearer_token_env_var = "JOKERPRICE_API_KEY"Local server from the command line
codex mcp add jokerprice --env JOKERPRICE_API_KEY=ss_your_key_here -- node /absolute/path/to/mcp/index.mjsRun codex mcp list to confirm it is registered.
Local server in config.toml
Codex reads MCP servers from ~/.codex/config.toml, shared by the CLI and the IDE extension.
[mcp_servers.jokerprice]
command = "node"
args = ["/absolute/path/to/mcp/index.mjs"]
env = { JOKERPRICE_API_KEY = "ss_your_key_here" }Try it
Start codex and type /mcp to see the JokerPrice tools. Then ask: “Use JokerPrice to estimate annual revenue for a 2-bedroom apartment at 21.5675, 39.1293 and list the five nearest comparables.”
Codex as a data assistant
Codex can combine the tools with code: ask it to fetch listings for a city and write a script that charts asking rates by district. For repeatable jobs, have it write code against the REST API so the job runs without the assistant.
